The Challenge

Health information can often feel overwhelming, fragmented, and difficult to navigate. The challenge was to create an experience that makes important information easier to understand while helping users quickly find the support and resources they need.

Overview

LungCare was designed to support people looking for reliable lung-health information and easier access to care. The platform brings educational resources, professional consultation, community support, and local services together in one accessible experience.

Why I Started This Project

This project was inspired by my mother’s experience with cancer several years ago. During her treatment, limited access to clear information about the illness, medication, and care made an already difficult process harder. That experience motivated me to explore how a digital tool could help people find relevant information and support more easily.

Problem

Lung cancer patients can face barriers to timely treatment, reliable information, local resources, and emotional support—especially when financial limitations are involved.

Goal

Create a user-centered mobile experience that makes information, affordable treatment options, community support, and local resources easier to access.

Solution

LungCare brings medical information, affordable treatment resources, community support, and local services together in one accessible mobile platform.

User Research

As part of this project, I conducted user interviews to explore people’s experiences with finding lung-health information and support. The research focused on understanding their needs and the challenges they encountered when navigating available resources.

USER PERSONA

I created Maria as a design persona to explore the needs of someone navigating lung cancer while facing financial and information barriers. The persona helped me consider how to organize health information, support services, and care resources within the app.

USER FLOW

I mapped the main paths through LungCare to organize how users find health information, explore care resources, and access support. The flow helped me plan the navigation and connections between the app’s key sections before developing the interface.

USER JOURNEY

I created a journey map to explore Maria’s potential experience when seeking health information, care resources, and support. It helped me consider the questions and difficulties she might face at each stage, alongside opportunities for the app to provide clearer guidance.

FINAL UI

The final interface brings health information, care resources, community support, and consultation features into one mobile experience. I focused on clear navigation and visual hierarchy to help users understand the available options and move between sections.

OUTCOME & REFLECTION

LungCare brought health information, care resources, and community support together in a mobile app concept. Through user interviews, journey mapping, and interface design, I explored how to organize these resources around people’s needs.
Inspired by my mother’s experience with cancer, this project deepened my interest in making complex information easier to navigate. A next step would be to evaluate the prototype with representative users and refine the navigation based on their feedback.

  • Designed around real user needs and accessibility barriers
  • Connected information, support, and care resources in one experience
  • Improved my ability to translate research into clear UX decisions
